MOLES AND SKIN LESIONS

Moles are discoloured lesions on the skin that are often brown or black in colour, and can be raised. These are usually harmless but can be unsightly and also the cause of embarrassment, especially when positioned in an obvious place. Cosmetic mole and skin lesion removal is not available through the NHS.

Mole removal can usually be carried out under local anaesthetic as an outpatient procedure, and will leave a small scar.

Other benign skin lesions that can also be removed under a local anaesthetic include; skin tags, seborrheic dermatitis / keratosis, sebaceous cysts, Xanthalasma of the eyelids
