Liposuction
Liposuction is suitable for removing excess fatty deposits from around the body. This is used to remove those hard to shift areas that do not respond to diet and exercise. It is not designed to remove large quantities of fat or excess tissue.
The most common areas treated by liposuction are the abdomen, flanks (love handles) and inner thighs.
+ What will happen during my treatment?
Liposuction always performed under general anaesthetic and depending on a number of areas being treated, takes 1-1.5 hrs in theatre.
During the procedure, a number of small incisions are made to gain access. A cannula is used to inject a water-based solution into the area which breaks down the fat, which is then sucked out used the same cannula. A Body Jet liposuction kit is always used.
You will be required to wear a compression garment (under your normal clothing) post operatively to help reduce swelling. The recommended time off work following this type of surgery is 1-2 weeks. Following the surgery, you will be required to come back to clinic after one week for a dressing removal or change, and a check up to ensure everything is settling.
