buttock lift

Dramatic or sudden weight loss can result in loose or sagging skin to any part of the body. A buttock lift is a procedure carried out to remove excess skin and fat. At the same time the area is lifted to restore the position of the buttocks and produce a firmer appearance.

+ What will happen during my treatment?

A buttock lift is always carried out under a general anaesthetic and takes up to three hours in theatre. Following the surgery, you will need to stay in hospital for one night.

During the procedure an incision is made just above the buttocks, and the excess skin and fat is removed. The incisions will be stitched closed and covered by dressings. Small, thin tubes (drains) might be temporarily inserted in the wound to remove any excess fluid.

These will be removed before you are discharged from hospital.

Following the surgery, you will be required to come back to clinic after one week for a dressing removal or change, and a check up to ensure everything is settling. It is recommended that you take at least two weeks off work to allow for recovery, and you will be able to return to light activities within a couple of weeks.
